Starting secondary school comes with plenty of new routines — and lunchtime shouldn’t be one of the complicated ones.
Food Village is designed to make ordering and collecting lunch simple for students, while giving parents and guardians clear oversight of the account and payment side.
Here’s how it works.
1. Students create their Food Village account
Students register using their school’s unique Food Village registration code and set up their account through the Food Village app.
Once registered, they can view the menu available in their school and start choosing what they want for lunch.
2. Parents or guardians can be linked to the account
A student account can be linked to a parent or guardian so they can manage payment.
This gives families a straightforward way to keep the account funded while allowing students to choose their own lunch from the available menu.
Students can also add a bank card directly where appropriate.
3. Choose lunch in advance
Students can browse the menu in the Food Village app and select their meal before the ordering deadline.
The menu includes a wide range of hot meals, pasta, rice dishes, wraps, sandwiches, salads, bakery items, snacks and drinks, giving students plenty of choice throughout the school week.
When the countdown reaches zero, payment is processed and the order is sent through to the Food Village team for preparation.
4. Collect using a keytag
Students don’t need to use their phone when it comes time to collect lunch in school.
Each student receives a Food Village keytag linked to their account.
At lunchtime, they simply use their keytag at the collection point to identify their order and collect their meal quickly.
That makes collection straightforward even in schools where phones aren’t permitted during the school day.
5. Forgot to preorder? There’s still an option
Missing the app preorder doesn’t necessarily mean missing lunch.
Where the Food Village self-service kiosk is available, students can use the kiosk in school on the day to view the available options and place an order.
That gives students an additional way to purchase lunch when they haven’t ordered through the app in advance.
6. Parents have greater oversight
The system is designed to give parents and guardians visibility over the account and payment process while keeping lunchtime easy for students.
Rather than relying on cash every day, the account, payment and ordering process can all be managed digitally.
7. More choice, less hassle at lunchtime
Food Village combines digital ordering with a simple in-school collection process so students can focus on choosing the food they actually want to eat.
For schools, the system is designed to keep the process organised without creating unnecessary day-to-day administration.
For students, it means more choice and a quicker lunchtime experience.
For parents and guardians, it means a clearer way to manage payment and keep track of the account.
